Electric Car Emissions
Electric cars are an important part of our transition away from fossil fuels. Even electric cars come with a carbon footprint, most of it from production and energy use. As average Europeans, we generate 986 kg of greenhouse gases per person per year when we drive an EV for 12,000 km.

Campervan Emissions
Our campervans, powered by fossil fuels, will be with us for a few more years. We generate 939 kg of greenhouse gases emissions per person when we drive them 7,000 km. Let's clean this up.

Continental Flight
Sometimes flying is the only option. As average Europeans, we generate 868 kg of greenhouse gases per person on a flight within Europe. This is the equivalent of a flight from Vienna to Madrid and back.

Intercontinental Flight
Long-distance flights emit large amounts of greenhouse gases. At times, they're still the best option available.
As average Europeans, we generate 6,314 kg of greenhouse gases per person on an intercontinental flight, equivalent to a round trip from Vienna to San Francisco.

Projects
We invest exclusively in Gold Standard Certified initiatives. These initiatives support at least three sustainable development goals, including climate action, and are rigorously monitored. Take a look at some of the current initiatives here.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Climate Artivist?
A Climate Artivist is someone who strives to make the world a better place through art and activism, either by doing or promoting it. How about becoming one? Clean up like an artivist now if you care.
What projects do we invest in?
We invest exclusively in Gold Standard certified initiatives. Gold Standard for the Global Goals is an impact standard aimed at ensuring integrity and credibility in climate security and sustainable development initiatives. It provides a framework of methodologies, guidelines, and requirements supported by strong safeguards and principles, enabling accurate measurement and verification of impacts from such initiatives. It was established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs.
What emissions are included?
We use a consumption-based approach for our calculations. Consumption-based emissions refer to the amount of greenhouse gases released due to the consumption of goods and services by end consumers, including both private households and public institutions. This encompasses the emissions across the entire lifecycle of the consumed products and services, including production, transportation, use, and disposal. If you decide to compensate using your car or taking a plane, we consider the full life cycle emissions, from production, to use and recycling of your car or plane.
Are emissions from imported goods included (e.g., imports from China)?
Yes, in the consumption-based approach, emissions from imported goods, including those imported from China or any other country, are included in the importing country's emissions tally. This means that if a country imports goods from China, the emissions generated during the production, transportation, and possibly the disposal of those goods are accounted for in the emissions inventory of the importing country, not China. This approach aims to attribute emissions to the end consumer of the goods, regardless of where they were produced.
Can I deduct these expenses?
You will receive an invoice from us, and you can treat it as a deductible expense like any other service.
What else can we do?
Taking climate action as a consumer extends beyond merely compensating for carbon emissions; it involves making conscious choices in every aspect of daily life. From reducing waste by opting for reusable products to supporting sustainable businesses and advocating for green policies, individuals can make a significant impact. It's about transforming consumption habits, choosing renewable energy sources, and minimizing the ecological footprint by prioritizing eco-friendly products and services. Embrace a lifestyle that respects and preserves the environment. Join us in this mission at CleanupSocial.com, where every action counts towards a greener tomorrow.
